As Posted Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
As Posted is a phone app that reads a parking or street-sweeping sign and saves the restriction on your calendar. As Posted has no accounts and no servers of its own. Photos, rules, and calendar events stay on your phone unless you choose to share them or the phone’s own services are used as described below.
Information stored on your phone
- Photos. If you take or choose a sign photo, that image stays on your device so the app can read it. Text recognition runs on the phone. The photo is not uploaded to As Posted.
- Sign text and rules. The app stores the restriction it read or that you edited: type, days, hours, street side, notes, and the address you keep on the event. This is saved in a local database on your phone.
- Calendar events. When you save, As Posted writes the event into the calendar you pick, using the calendar already on your phone. Reminders are scheduled on your phone.
- Parking pin. If you drop a pin, the app stores that spot and which side of the street you parked on, on your phone.
Location
As Posted uses location only while you are using the app, and only for these jobs:
- Fill a street address from the photo’s saved location, from where you took the photo, or when you tap “Use current location.”
- Remember a parking pin.
- Compare your pin with a public list of San Francisco or San José parking meters so it can show a nearby posted rate. That comparison happens on your phone.
When the app turns coordinates into a street address, it uses the phone’s geocoder. On iPhone that request goes to Apple. On Android it goes to Google’s location service. As Posted does not receive a copy of that request on an As Posted server, because there isn’t one.
Meter lookup downloads public lists from DataSF (data.sfgov.org) and the City of San José open-data site (data.sanjoseca.gov). Your coordinates are used only to pick nearby rows. They are not sent to an As Posted server.
Sharing
The share button creates a calendar file (.ics) and hands it to the share sheet you choose, such as Mail or Messages. That file contains the event you saved: title, times, schedule, street side, address, and notes. It does not contain the photo. As Posted does not send that file anywhere by itself.
What As Posted does not do
- No account, sign-in, or profile.
- No advertising and no third-party analytics.
- No sale of personal information.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
How long it stays
Rules, photos the app kept, and the parking pin remain on your phone until you delete them in As Posted or delete the app. Calendar events remain in your calendar until you delete them there or in As Posted. Deleting the app removes As Posted’s local database. Events already written to your calendar can remain in the calendar app.
Children
As Posted is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date.
